Having thick and shiny hair screams health and wellbeing, but achieving this look is tricky when you have hair which is prone to breaking or splitting, or you spend a while styling your hair to make it look good. Unfortunately not everyone has a team of stylists like the celebrities featured in our magazines! So if your hair needs a little extra TLC to bring it back to life, check out our top tips on restoring your hair to it’s good health.
If your hair is frazzled and damaged thanks to long hours spent straightening and curling it, you need to firstly step away from the heated styling products. Aim to only use them at the weekends or for special occasions, and you’ll be amazed how quickly the condition of your hair improves.
Use a deep conditioning mask once a week and always use a leave in conditioner – we reccommend Moroccanoil. Having regular trims (every 6 weeks) will also really help to improve the condition of your hair.
Dry, brittle and damaged locks can have a serious impact on your overall looks. It may seem hard to deal with split ends and dull hair at home, but there are a few great remedies to bring your hair back to health.
The one thing you should visit a salon for is a trim. Shed those split ends and unnecessary weight from your hair before trying home remedies – you’ll be amazed how much healthier your hair looks and feels.

Olive Oil Mask – Use one egg yolk, two teaspoons of olive oil and one teaspoon of honey. Mix all these ingredients together and massage into clean dry hair, before gathering your hair loosely on top of your hair. This can do wonders for dry, damaged tresses. Leave the mixture on for around 30 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Repeat twice a week.

Thermal protection is very important if you have to use a hairdryer and straighteners as part of your daily beauty routine. If this sounds like you, it’s very important you apply a thermal cream or spray to your hair – these are available in all good beauty stores. If you’re sunbathing, it’s also a good idea to apply some of this.

Healthy hair starts from the inside out, so be sure to eat balanced meals rich in proteins to build healthy hair. Munch on plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and don’t forget to take vitamins. Vitamin B is especially beneficial for hair.

Repairing your damaged hair will take time and patience, so stick at it, and soon you will have shiny, restored and healthy hair once again!
