Hair Wrap Around Ponytail

The ponytail hairstyle is a crowd favourite hairstyle, and while it makes a quick-fix style for bad hair days, it’s also the answer to a killer statement look. Ponytails have evolved from regular gym hairdo to Insta-favs and iconic red carpet go-to’s over the years, and the super-chic hair-wrapped ponytail is a style that has never gone out of style with our fav Hollywood favs.

In the early 90s, Madonna was rarely seen without her high, voluminous ponytail, (wrapped around the base with a thick blonde braid around the base), and thanks to celebs like Ariana Grande, Kim K and Jennifer Lopez, the hair wrapped ponytail is one of the biggest red-carpet hairstyles.

This hairstyle is achieved by wrapping your hair around the base of your ponytail to conceal the hair tie, and just like that, you’ll take your hair from basic to beautiful. And the best thing about this hairstyle? It’s versatile - when you throw a bunch of different ways to style this hair wrapped ponytail into the mix, you’ll see the fun and beauty of the gorgeous hairstyle. • The Celebrity Favorite low, sleek pony
  • The super-high hair-wrapped ponytail
  • Middle-part wrapped pony
  • The textured pony
  • The retro ponytail
  • The blunt pony

The trusty low, sleek pony is a red-carpert wothy style and has been seen on celebs like Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, and Selena Gomez. This low, sleek pony is popular because of how simple, polished and versatile it can be. You can take this look from the office to the bar without ever looking overdressed or underdressed.

Make sure you hold your hair in a low ponytail and secure your hair using a tail comb, hairspray, hair gel, hair tie, and a toothbrush. After creating your low ponytail, grab a tiny section of hair from the underside and use a stronghold spray to ensure it stays in places with no flyaways.

Tightly wrap this section around the base of your ponytail and secure it with bobby pins. If you have short hair and wish to achieve this look, try a ponytail clip-in. Not only is it great for length but it also thickens the hair and provides a full-bodied look. For added volume, why not add a small quiff in the front?

Cute Ponytail Hairstyles

As seen on JLo, Kim K and Katy Perry, this high hair-wrapped ponytail is the ultimate red-carpet look. It’s bold, it’s glam, and it’s elegant.

To get the look, secure a ponytail at any height with an elastic. Then, take a piece of hair from the bottom of the pony, wrap it around the elastic, and secure it with a pin. This style is perfect for voluminous and textured hair.

Take note from Katy and take your look to the next level with super-luxe waves; achieve this with our ultra-volume clip-ins. If you want to tone down the look, opt for a low key color, closest to your hair color like Kim K did with her ash brown super high ponytail.

Middle-part wrapped pony

You'll need to add some dimension to your hair and opt for the half-middle-part style a’la Bella Hadid. This killer look is glamourous, polished and super easy to maintain. Get this look by setting your middle part first, then pulling the rest of your fair into a ponytail.

You'll have to pomade and a lot of hair spray to lock the style in place. When pulling your hair up, leave a small section of hair loose just under the hair tie. Then, wrap that section of hair around the hair tie and secure the loose end with a bobby pin.

    Sleek Low Ponytail

Add some extra oomph to your look and turn waved tresses into THE textured pony. Prep your hair into loose waves if your hair isn’t naturally wavy and wear your hair low and textured. If you have natural curls then start with wet hair.

The difference between this style and the textured sleek low pony is that there’s no need for all that gel for this look; simply tease your hair at the crown to balance out the volume. Leave out a fringe like Camila Cabello for a cute look. Be careful though, this minimum-effort style may easily become your go-to!

    The Retro Ponytail

Throw it back with a ‘90s-inspired retro pony. As seen on celebs like Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner and model Ashley Graham, this stunning look is perfect for those with medium to long hair. Featuring a deep side part,
the flipped out ends are this hairstyle’s secret weapon while wrapping a side section of hair around the base of the pony gives it that retro vibe.

To finish off the look, make sure you use your straighteners to flick the ends for a super cute ponytail updo ready to be worn for any occasion.

    The blunt pony

For our bold ladies, the blunt pony is the daring look well worth the risk. Sleek, straight, and blunt, this is not a style for the faint-hearted.

If you’re not ready to cut your own hair to achieve this look, why not try clip in human hair extensions and use a scissor for that blunt edge. Using hair extensions will also allow you to play with length, shape, and precision if you’re feeling crafty.

We love this hair-wrapped ponytail hairstyle because you can immediately transform your hairstyle from a messy ponytail to a purposefully polished hairdo in seconds. To this style one step further, braid the hair before you wrap it. Will you be upgrading your ponytails with this clever styling trick?
