Christmas is a great time to embrace a daring red lip – glamourous and festive, perfect for Christmas parties! We’ve compiled a blog featuring our top products to get a slick and sophisticated red lipped look…

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Big Bang, £5.99

This is a gorgeous super glossy lip stain, which gives a really bold, bright and shiny red. This shade is a real head turner, and provides a really strong colour. The colour lasts really well, and gives a mirror shine. The applicator is really good, and makes the lipgloss easy to reply. The consistency is creamy and opaque, and it goes on really nicely.

As you can see from the swatch, this is by far the glossiest shade of all the products. The only downside to this product would be that it does transfer VERY easily. It’s easy to get this all over your teeth, your glass, and if your hair blows in the wind and gets in contact with your lips, you will have red stained hair until you wash it again – not ideal on a night out. Overall, this product is amazing if you are wearing it to an event that you know won’t be very active, and you can sit still looking pretty!

MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo, from £13.50

This is the red lipstick of all red lipsticks – it’s an iconic shade and one of MAC’s bestsellers. The shade somehow suits every skin type, and is really flattering. This lipstick is really easy to apply and makes your lips look really healthy, even though it has a totally matte finish. This is a blue based red shade – think Gwen Stefani and Dita Von Teese. As it’s blue based, it makes your teeth appear whiter, and your skin appear brighter! The staying power of this lipstick is also amazing. It lasts ages and doesn’t fade at all.

Overall, this lipstick has to be the best red lipstick we’ve come across.

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss in 60 Exces, from £25.00

    Chanel-Rouge-Allures-Gloss-#60
    Chanel Rouge Allures Gloss #60

This product combines the rich colour and staying power of the classic Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick, with a lipgloss. It’s basically a glossy version of Rouge Allures, and still gives you intense colour, but with a hint of gloss. The gloss isn’t over powering, and it still looks sophisticated without looking too over the top as Rimmel Apocalips can. It’s glossy without being too thick and gooey and two coats will give you a rich vibrant red. It doesn’t last that long, but if you don’t touch it up, and let the gloss go, it leaves you with a pretty lipstain. The packaging as with all Chanel products is gorgeous, and this lipgloss feels heavy and luxurious. Perfect if you’re after a red lip that’s not too overpowering and unnatural.

MAC Lipglass in RiRi Woo (RiRi Hearts MAC), £14.50

This has to be the winner out of all the products. It combines the gorgeous colour of Ruby Woo (flattering, blue based), with the gloss of the Chanel Rouge Allures and Rimmel Apocalips. It’s a gorgeous bright colour, which is really glossy, but has a slightly thicker consistency to Apocalips, meaning it doesn’t end up everywhere. It’s really hydrating, and will stay on your lips around 5-6 hours without any touching up.
