Plaiting your Ponytail Extension – QUEEN ELSA STYLE (FROZEN)

Plaiting your ponytail extension is usually quite a task because of the weft onto which the hair is sewn. However in this tutorial, I will show you how to create a really cool and thick plait, similar to the ever so popular plait Elsa from Frozen sports throughout the movie. I am using Cliphair’s Ponytail extension in Bleach Blonde #613. Get yours here

All you will be needing to create this gorgeous plait is a few bobby pins and 2 rubber bands. A comb with a pointy bottom will also help you out however, you can separate the hair with your finger if you wish.

Section your hair off as seen in the second picture of the diagram above, and begin plaiting the top part, until you reach the second layer of hair. Divide the second layer of hair into two and use the loose hair of the plait which you have created as the third strand of hair to continue plaiting your hair. Repeat when you reach the third layer of hair. It is very similar to creating a French plait and very easy when you get the hang of it. The photo below will help you out in understanding the directions.

As you can see above, I have finished plaiting the first section, I have divided the second section into two, and am using the centre strand of hair to basically have 3 strands again to continue plaiting. So once you have plaited the same amount of hair as above for a second time, you will repeat using the final and last layer of hair, continuing the plait and finally tying it using a rubber band. Next we are going to tug at the plait to make it look thicker and fluffier as you can see in the photo below.

Once you are ready from plaiting your extension, you will be needing to make a side ponytail using your own hair, and plaiting that too, securing with a rubber band. See exactly how below.

Once you have attached your extension, simply wrap your natural plait around the ribbon of the extension, and pin it securely, using bobby pins! And viola’, you have your finished look!
